Who do you most respect in the wine business?

Definitely Ernie Maldonado at David Abreu Vineyard Management. Ernie has a sixth sense when it comes to growing vines, he understands all of the intricacies of the life cycle of plants. No one has accomplished more than Ernie, and without being in the spotlight. Plus he is just an amazing guy.

What excites you most about ROOM?

Pushing the envelope. Learning something new with every winemaking and viticulture project. Always having a new challenge.

What music plays in your head?

Beethoven, John Coltrane’s Blue Train, Led Zeppelin IV and Houses of the Holy.

What is your favorite place in the world?

On my back porch with my girls and my family.

What do you see yourself doing when you are 85 years old?

Hiking tall mountains, swimming in the Pacific Ocean, weeding in the garden with my man.

What else would you do if you were not in the wine business?

Grow herbal tea! Farm veggies. Ceramics.
